RGMC Patiala Elections: Dr Nidhi breaks the jinx in power rotation; Dr Boparai elected as hony secy

Dr Nidhi Bansal of Catalyst group has been able to break the jinx of rotating power between the two groups of the Rajindra Gymkhana and Mahindra Club (RGMC), Patiala since last many decades.
The prestigious north India club RGMC today elected its first ever woman lady executive member Dr Nidhi Bansal. She won the election of executive members with flying colours. She has secured 1156 votes out of total 1745 votes polled in yesterday’s election and ranked number one. Last year Sangeeta Handa had tried her luck for the post of executive member but she lost the election by a narrow margin by just 4-5 votes.
On the other hand outgoing president Dr Sukhdeep Singh Boparai has won the post of honorary secretary of the club. He beat Pawan Nagrath in the elections. Dr Boparai polled 1224 out of 1745 votes and Pawan Nagrath polled 507 votes. 11 votes were cancelled.
On October 19,2024 RGMC members polled to elect one general secretary and seven executive members as rest of the team namely president, vice president, treasurer, joint secretary were already elected unopposed.
Earlier on August 24 this year, members of Progressive Group and Goodwill Group of Rajindra Gymkhana and Mahindra Club (RGMC) had informed the media that “both the groups are merged and now onwards there will be only one group all members group ” Friendship Group” means we all members of the club will jointly work for the betterment of the club”.
But with the announcement of elections, Pawan Nagrath, Dr Nidhi Bansal and others sounds the revolt bugle and filed the nominations for one hony secretary and seven executive posts forcing the newly formed Friendship Group (after merging of Progressive Group and Goodwill Group) to go for elections. As a woman member Dr Nidhi throws her hat in club’s election to break the bastion of male members and won the election for the executive post.
Earlier both the merged groups had decided to jointly elect their members for the post of club 12 member executive team.

Now, Deepak Kampani is the president, Vikas Puri is the vice present, Dr Sukhdip Singh Boparai is the hony secretary,Sanchit Bansal is the treasurer, Vinod Sharma is the joint secretary and Dr Nidhi Bansal, Rahul Mehta, Dr Anshuman Kharbanda, Pardeep Kumar Singla, Jatin Goyal, Bikramjit Singh and Avinash Gupta are selected as executive members of the club.
