RGNUL’s School for Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies organized one day Convention on World Health Day

The School for Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies (SSSIS), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, Patiala organized a One-Day Convention on World Health Day on 7th April, 2025 which is the World Health Day as commemorated by the United Nations.
The Guests of Honor and Speakers were Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Gill and Prof. (Dr.) Seema Vinayak. Professor Gill is the former head and professor of the department of Sociology, Panjab University, Chandigarh; presently she is Advocate, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh. Professor Vinayak is the head and professor, Department of Psychology, Panjab University. Chandigarh. Dr. Ivneet Walia, Registrar (Officiating) graced the event with the words of welcome and shared that even Almighty wants all of us to expect and pray for good of the whole world, without which the human values do not find a genuine conclusion in human world. Dr. Jasleen Kewlani, Convenor, the School of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies (SSSIS) RGNUL, Punjab, expressed that today, death and diseases have no age and at times diseases are silent killer with no symptoms. It is very crucial that we all be cautious of the little to big changes occurring in our bodies and mind also. Facing disease burden changes the whole scenario of life; until every individual put efforts to understand and control disease burden with wise and strategic planning and responses, the society cannot think about human and social development, leave aside sustainable one.
Professor Vinayak says that there is a strong connection between physical, mental and emotional health; and every reaction of mind and body has to be sensibly understood and responded to. According to her, we must not ignore any message from the body regarding any distortion happening inside. Being alert regarding our physical health can help us maintain a good mental and emotional health.
Professor Gil forwarded an exhaustive list of ‘take aways’ regarding ‘how to live a healthy and a happy life’! For her, one’s own self, is an agency within an individual, which is to be utilized by him or her with the best capacities and abilities. Mental maturation; sensitivity; approach and choice for minimalism can together make an individual live a quality and a happy life, even if he or she is suffering from diseases. a positive and a humane mind helps everyone to create a better society for one’s own self and others also.
There were around hundred participants, mainly the ‘youth’ who were very active in the discussion round and discussed multiple aspects of life with the experts.
RGNUL’s School for Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies organized one day Convention on World Health Day. In all, the event gracefully aimed the objective of making the young minds learn strategies of handling stress, depression and any related syndrome or disorder; and also, to live quality life along side combatting physical health challenges in life.
