On November 20,2023, royalpatiala.in News portal did a story on how the forest department, district administration, Patiala are failed to check the display of illegal advertisements of political, religious, private persons amongst others on the trees, defying NGT orders.

This time, acting swiftly, the department came into action mode and issued notices to the two advertisers who are in the business of displaying advertisements, hoardings in various modes, including on trees. Also the forest department has start removing the illegal hoardings installed on trees in the city.

As per available information, the forest department has asked the advertisers “to not to nail, put hoardings, advertisements on trees in Patiala district. If they are found violating or disobeying the orders, action will be taken as per the rules”.

On this local resident Rajesh Kumar Verma said “it’s a good step taken by the forest department, district administration to remove the illegal hoardings from the trees and issuing the notices to the persons who are in this business. The department has set a trend. This will help in preserving the environment.”

Gurpreet Kaur, a teacher said that due to the fixing of big nails and trellis, the xylem and phloem (plant vascular tissue) get ruptured leading to a stoppage in carrying food and water from roots to the rest of the parts of the trees. Apart from this, nailing tears up the bark and opens spaces for pests and diseases. “We appeal to citizens to stop hammering nails and putting illegal advertisements, hoardings on trees, as trees play a major part in keeping our planet alive.”

Now, these politicians must set a trend and ask their supporters to not to hurt the trees by putting illegal hoardings and deface the city. Moreover trees are not meant for advertising.”
