Rupnagar kid scales Everest base camp

A local kid, Teghbir singh , a 1st standard student at local Shiwalik Public School, Rupnagar has scaled the Mount Everest Base camp located in Nepal at a tender age of 5 years .
He started the Trek to Everest Base Camp on 9th April and walked all along to reach Base Camp on 17 th April , 2024 .
Everest Base Camp is located at an Height of 5364 Metres and normal temperature in April is -12 .
It is a low Oxygen trek and one needs preparation to tackle problems associated with Altitude Sickness .
Teghbir started preparing for this feat almost a year back . He was trained by Bikramjit Singh Ghuman ( Retired Coach ) who used to help him with the exercises related to increase Cardio Vascular Health and Increase Lung capacity to deal with Altitude Sickness .
He used to go on weekly treks with his father and coach to different hilly locations.
While he is on his way back , we were informed that he went along with his father to Kathmandu on 8th April and took flight to Lukla from where his trek started the next day .
Each day he walked around 8-10 kms and temperatures dropped with every ascent he made . He walked and stayed in a Low Oxygen altitude in a Minus grade temperature for almost a week .
Diet played a very major role in his journey and he followed a strict diet schedule as laid by his coach .
His father thanked his Coach , His Grandparents , Family , friends who helped & encouraged him in his journey .
He also thanked Sanvi Sood as she is the torch bearer for Mountaineering in the State .
It is notable that Teghbir singh has become the youngest Mountaineer from the state of Punjab to achieve this feat . His father , Sukhinder Singh is working as an Administrator at Local Parmar Hospital and his mother Dr Manpreet Kaur is a Practising Gynaecologist at the same place .
Teghbir singh is on his way back to Kathmandu and shall reach Ropar on 23 rd April .
