Rupnagar Police organise a walkathon to make people aware about ill effects of drugs

Rupnagar Police is making concerted efforts at all levels to make people aware about ill effects of drugs. The walkathon, organized with the aim of giving further support to these efforts, was flagged off by SSP IPS Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana and ADC (Development) IAS Chandrajyoti Singh.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Rupnagar Gulneet Singh Khurana said that following directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav, the campaign against drugs being run across Punjab is also aimed at making people aware of drugs, which is receiving a huge response from the people and youth including students.

SSP said that to eradicate drugs from society, we should all join hands and fight against it together. Under which it is also mandatory to motivate the misguided drug victims to get treatment and quit drugs.

He said that the drug that exists today is a very dangerous drug. Once a youth falls prey to this drug, it becomes very difficult to leave it. Therefore, we want to guide our students and youth and try to keep them away from drugs.

He informed the students about contacting the Safe Punjab Helpline 97791-00200 on WhatsApp to file any kind of complaint against drugs. It was also said that the number, address and name of the person who complains on this number are kept confidential.

In this race, 10 schools were participates in the walkathon on theme of Punjab against drugs including DAV Public Senior Secondary School Rupnagar, Khalsa Senior Secondary School Rupnagar, GNM School Rupnagar, Siwalik Public School Rupnagar, Government Senior Secondary School Girls Rupnagar, Government Senior Smart School Ghanoli, Government Senior Secondary School Kartarpur, Government Senior Secondary School Jhajj, Government Senior Secondary School Phool Khurd, besides the team of Saanjh Kendra Rupnagar, Rotary Club Rupnagar and police personnel participated in this race and all the organizations including the students took a pledge not to do drugs.

This walkathon started from Maharaj Ranjit Singh Park and passed through Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk and ended at Maharaj Ranjit Singh Park. After which students gave cultural performances at Maharaja Ranjit Park and gave a message not to do drugs.

On this occasion, CJM-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority Rupnagar Himanshi Galhotra, SP Headquarters Rajpal Singh Hundal, District Public Relations Officer Karan Mehta, DSP Rupnagar Rajpal Singh Gill, DSP Sri Chamkaur Sahib Manjit Singh, DSP Nangal Kulbir Singh Nangal, DSP  Headquarters Mohit Kumar Singla, DSP (NDPS) Gurmeet Singh, DSP Pankaj Kumar, SHO Pawan Kumar, Retd. APRO Rajinder Saini, Dr. Bhim Sen from Rotary Club, Dr. Aarti, Arina Sharma, Coordinator from Nehru Yuva Kendra Pankaj Yadav and other high officials were present.
