Sangrur police launches campaign against blackmailer journalists; 9 fake press reporters arrested in 10 days

Sangrur police under the command of its senior superintendent of police (SSP) Mandeep Singh Sidhu,IPS has launched a different kind of campaign, a campaign against Blackmailers acting as Press / Media Reporters and defaming genuine & legitimate Press & Media Personals. In a ten days the district police has arrested 9 fake journalists, registered 8 FIRs at four different police stations.
SSP Sidhu said “in the garb of being journalists / media persons they use to make and anchor cut-paste & motivated videos with twisted facts, even of minor happening of any crime & then reach police stations and start putting pressure on lower rung police officials and always tries to tilt decisions as per their own wishes with sole purpose of grabing money by blackmailing police officials and the concerned rival parties.”
“Sometimes lower rank police officials also become their victim due to fear of action for any negligence and even some Corrupt & Spineless Officials of other departments were their Routine / Monthly Victims” added Sidhu.
Sidhu further added that “their another specialty and “`Trade Mark Modus Operandi“` was to intimidate / blackmail genuine business owners and officials of other departments and even of common people on some pretext, make & fake their videos and then threaten them to publish and upload their videos on online portals and defame them if they did not get desired amount of money.”
They were arrested in different cases and police got remand and collected relevant evidence including fake yellow & media cards from them.
Police officials are getting regular calls from general public which was highly fed up since long time because of their Nefarious activities. They are appreciative of the Strong Action taken against them.
