SBI declared village Ghudda as first digital village and plastic free village

Digital banking is being encouraged in a big way by the government to make financial transactions easier. State Bank of India is engaged in reaching it to the masses. Keeping this in mind, it has been decided to make Ghudda village a digital village by the State Bank of India’s Financial Inclusion and Micro Markets Regional Business Office of, Bathinda. Along with this, the bank has also taken the initiative to free this village from single use plastic.

A grand programme was organized in the village under the chairmanship of  Subhash Joinwal, General Manager of the Bank’s Patiala Network,by the State Bank of India to declare Ghudda village as the first digital village and single use plastic-free village of district Bathinda. Prof. RK Kohli, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda attended the event as the Chief Guest. The program began with the lighting of the lamp by General Manager Subhash Joinwal, Chief Guest, Prof. RK Kohli, Assistant General Manager Pawan Goel, Vijay Garg, Jaskaran Singh, U.S Gupta, JK Bhutani, Prof: Ravinder Singh Ghuman and Village Sarpanch Seema Rani. In his welcome address, the bank’s regional manager Pawan Kumar Goel said that State Bank of India has always been in the forefront in implementing government schemes. In order to spread the use of digital banking among the common people, we have decided to make Ghudda village a fully digital village. In the same context, Street Walk and Yono Quiz Competition were organized in the village last week.

On this occasion, the Chief Guest of the program, Vice Chancellor of Central University Punjab Bathinda, Prof. RK Kohli, said in his address that in today’s digital age, it is the need of the hour to bring modern technology to the masses. Therefore, making Ghuda village a digital village by State Bank of India is a necessary step at the right time. He further said that all of us together should make Ghudda village an ideal village, which should become an example for the whole country. In his presidential address, General Manager Subhash Joinwal said that after Gajju Mazra Village of District, Patiala, Ghudda village is the second village in Punjab state which has been made a digital village. Under this, the entire village has been given detailed information about the bank’s Yono app. He said that our bank’s YONO app is very useful and completely safe. He told that with SBI Yono app, you can do a lot of other tasks including digital payment, shopping, water, electricity and mobile bill payment, loan application, opening a new bank account, fund transfer i.e. money transfer from one account to another. He told that every shopkeeper of the village, even the street vendors, has been provided with the Bank Bhim app to enable digital transactions.

He further said the inhabitants of Ghudha village has been covered under various the social security schemes.  Under this, a person is insured with Govt social security schemes for death due to an accident for just Rs.12 and with a nominal  premium of  Rs. 330 per annum, which becomes less than one rupee per day, a person can be insured for rupees  two lac against  death due to any reason. With this, he further said that we have also taken the initiative to make Ghudda village completely free from single use plastic. Along with sensitizing the villagers to free the village from single use plastic, eco friendly bags have been distributed to every household and shopkeeper of the village. On this occasion, a skit based on the Yono app was staged by the bank staff, through which information about the benefits and features of the Yono app was provided in a very simple and interesting manner. Everyone appreciated this skit very much. On this occasion, the students of Different Convent School Ghudda also presented a cultural program including Gidda by RSET Bathinda Trainees.

The stage was handled by  Navdeep Bhandari and Lajpat Rai Goyal in a very beautiful manner. Various personalities including Punjabi University College Ghudda Principal Ravinder Singh Ghuman, village sarpanch Seema Rani, panchayat panchs, college students, self-help group members, bank employees and bank customers participated in large numbers in this event. In this event Chief manager DSH bathinda S.K Singh & B.K Ladda   had a special cooperation. In the end, Ravi Ray, the manager of Ghudda branch, thanked all the visitors
