A seminar cum meeting of NGOs/VO’s working in Patiala was conducted in Ambedkar Hall in Municipal Corporation Patiala on Solid Waste Management. Whereas all participants were informed how we can make Patiala city free of garbage by segregation of wet and dry waste.
Amandeep Sekhon and Manpreet Kaur Bajwa, programme coordinators of SBM-U spoken that every house should use composting method to dispose off their wet waste by digging a compost pit or use bucket composting if the space is not available for pit. The ideal size of the pit is 3m length* 1.5m breadth * 1 meter depth. They told if the depth goes beyond 1 meter than the oxygen supply stops and anaerobic process starts.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Khaira addressed to the present organisations that the Muncipal Corporation wants to fill the gap between the Corporation and the Public and to join hands in hands to make every project successful. The Municipal Corporation will help & cooperate with public on every step taken by them in order to make patiala clean and beautiful.
During the seminar NGOs representatives shared their views and opinions and valuable points were exchanged. Joint Commissioner Ankur Mahindru and Health Officer Sudesh Pratap Singh also addressed the representatives for downloading Swachhta-MOHUA app from Google Play store to register complaints of garbage heaps and to cooperate positively for making Patiala City Garbage free, during a seminar on Solid Waste Management at Municipal Corporation, Patiala. They told that by joining hands Patiala will rank better in upcoming Swachhta Survekshan 2018.
Municipal Commissioner ended the meeting with vote of thanks to all the organisations who participated.
