Senior IPS officer appointed Director, SPG

Senior IPS officer Alok Sharma who is additional director general of the special protection group (SPG), the elite security unit responsible for the security of the Prime Minister has been as the Director of the elite protection group, SPG.
He is overseeing the force following the death of SPG chief Arun Kumar Sinha in September. Sharma, a 1991-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, is currently an additional director general in the SPG.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment as the SPG’s director from the date of assumption of charge of the post and until further orders, an order issued by the personnel ministry said
