Show cause notice issued to SAD, AAP, and probable PLC candidate

Rajpura constituency returning officer has issued show cause notice to Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Charanjit Singh Brara, Aam Admi Party candidate Neena Mittal and probable Punjab Lok Congress candidate Jagdish Kumar Jagga for allegedly violating the model code of conduct and guidelines of the election commission of India regarding conduct of general elections during Covid. As per available information, yesterday the returning officer had issued a similar notice to the sitting MLA Hardial Singh Kamboj for these violations.
In the notice the returning officer said that he had come to know that they had been violating the guidelines and arranged gathering of people in excess of the limit allowed by the election commissioner at many places, four wheelers for election campaign without permission . By doing this they had violated the model code of conduct, the returning officer said.
The returning officer had directed Charanjit Singh Brar, Neena Mittal and Jagdish Kumar Jagga to submit their explanation within 24 hours of receiving the notice failing which action would be taken against him as per rules for violating Covid guidelines and model code of conduct.
