Navjot Singh Sidhu, newly appointed Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president will take the charge from outgoing President Sunil Jakhar on Friday July 23,2021, at its Chandigarh sector 15 office, in the presence of Punjab Congress in charge Harish Rawat.
As per sources, till now no formal confirmation has given by Chief Minister of Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh, to attend the charge taking ceremony. The CM Camp is saying that no formal invitation has been given for the charge taking ceremony.
“All congress leaders, MLAs, ministers have been informed, about the function. It’s a low-key affair and selected persons were invited, keeping Covid pandemic in mind,: said a congress leader.
The chief minister has made it clear that he won’t meet Sidhu unless he publicly apologises to him for his derogatory attacks. Yesterday, in a tweet, Captain Amarinder Singh’s media advisor Raveen Thukral refuted reports suggesting Navjot Singh Sidhu has sought time to meet the chief minister.
Today, Navjot Singh Sidhu tweeted” Winds of Change – Of the People By the People For the People | Chandigarh to Amritsar”. He along with party MLAs and ministers paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib, Durgiana Mandir at Amritsar. As per Sidhu camp sources 62 MLAs were with him, when they paid obeisance. But on the other side, CM camp sources said the number is around 40 along with 4 cabinet ministers- Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukjinder Singh Randhawa, Charanjit Singh Channi and Sukh Sarkaria. Another minister from Amritsar OP Soni, didn’t join Sidhu, for paying obeisance at religious places.
The feud between Capt Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu is increasing with every day. Some MLAs are totally with Navjot Singh Sidhu, some are with Capt Amarinder Singh and some MLAs are with both of them.
As per sources, “Sidhu has sent an invitation signed by around 65 MLAs to the Chief Minister. He has also invited AICC in charge of Punjab, Harish Rawat to the programme,”
