With the activeness on monsoon, the power demand in Punjab comes down drastically to half of the demand in regular days.

Today, the power demand comes to 7000 MW as against 14500 plus on regular days.

The drawl of power from central pool also comes down to 3980 MW from around 10,000.

On Tuesday the maximum demand was 14350 MW with a supply of 3098 lakh units. PSPCL purchased about 175 lakh units to meet the power demand.

The two units of Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), the largest private plant in Punjab are still non functional. Their only working unit of 660 MW is generating around 320 MW, due to cut in the power demand.

Similarly, the two working units of 1400 MW Nabha Power Limited (NPL) are generating around 912 MW means 65 percent of the generation capacity. The fall is again due the dip in temperature.
