State-wide protest by Govt Doctors on June 25 – IMA extends support on NPA

State Government doctors from various departments including health and family welfare, medical education and research, rural medical officers, animal husbandry, ayurvedic and dental will observe complete one day statewide strike in protest of the sixth Punjab Pay Commission report which has resulted in huge financial loss to them in the present form.
According to Dr. D.S. Bhullar, General Secretary of Punjab State Medical and Dental Teachers Association, except emergency and Covid, all other services including OPD, operation theatre and administrative services in Rajindra Hospital and Dental Colleges along with teaching of the medical students in Government Medical and Dental Colleges in Patiala and Amritsar will remain suspended completely throughout the day.
The demands of the medical and dental faculty along with other government doctors include:
– Restoration of NPA to 25 percent of basic pay.
– Consider NPA as part of the basic pay as earlier.
– Fixation of the pension including NPA as pay.
– Restoration of Academic Allowance of medical dental faculty.
– In toto implementation of the Seventh Central Pay Commission report to Punjab government doctors.
– Replace the term NPA to Compensatory Pay.
State-wide protest by Govt Doctors on June 25 – IMA extends support on NPA. The state branch of Indian Medical Association has also extended full support to the government doctors and decided to observe protest on June 25 wearing black badges.
According to Dr Kuldeep Singh, president of the state branch of Indian Medical Association, the deplorable act of reducing the NPA of the government doctors is humiliation of our noble profession in this pandemic inspite of our whole hearted cooperation and sacrifices and we stand by our colleagues in the government service in solidarity.
According to Dr Nidhi Bansal, Hony Secretary of the Patiala chapter of Indian Medical Association, IMA members in Patiala will also observe two hours pen down strike tomorrow on 25th June in solidarity with the doctors in Government sector who have been backstabbed in these tough times after doing so much for the country and the OPD services in private hospitals in Patiala will remain suspended tomorrow from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
The leaders of PSMDTA tomorrow will send memorandum to the Chief Minister Punjab through Director Principal of Government Medical College Patiala.
It is learnt that the Punjab Chief Minister has constituted a ten member committee including Education and Health minister to look into the pitfalls of the Sixth Pay Commission report, said Dr Bhullar.
