M M Modi College, Patiala organized ‘Talent Hunt – 2018’ today to provide a platform for students to explore their creative and artistic skills. Dr. Jaspal Kaur Dhanju, Dean Research and Dean College Development Council, Punjabi University, Patiala was the Chief Guest in the inaugural session and Prof. Saubhagya Vardhan, Director, North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala was the Chief Guest for the valedictory session. Dr. Gursewak Singh Lambi, Director, Youth Welfare Department, Punjabi University, Patiala was guest of honour on this occasion. The programme was inaugurated with a lamp lighting ceremony, Saraswati Vandana and Shabad Gayan by the students.

College Principal, Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, welcomed the chief guest and other guests. He said that such programmes are designed to develop the creative potential and artistic skills of our students. He told that college is committed to develop its students not only as future leaders but also as creative human beings.

Vice Principal Prof. (Dr.) Baljinder Kaur introduced the various themes for different competitions. Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Head, Dept. of Punjabi, formally introduced the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour to the students.

Dr. Jaspal Kaur Dhanju congratulated the winners of various competitions and said that by participating in such competitions students are able to develop important skills for their holistic development.

Dr. Gursewak Singh Lambi said that for participating in such competitions an honest approach and creative style is important.

First position was bagged by Sandeep Singh in Collage Making; Bhawna Mal in Mehndi Design; Ravinder Kaur in Embroidery; Kushaldeep Kaur in Cartoon Making, Shubham Verma in On the Spot Painting, Gurfateh Singh in Clay Modelling, Sonia in Poster Making, Gudeet Singh in Photography and Simranjeet Kaur in Rangoli.

In General Knowledge Quiz competition Samar Singh Sohi got the first position. First position was bagged by Gautam Bagga and Saleem Khan in Folk Song and Ghazal; Ramanpreet Singh in Song; Sagar in Western Solo Song; Prince in Poetry Recitation and Damanjot Kaur and Sunidhi Chopra in Elocution.

Prof. Saubhagya Vardhan presided over the valedictory function. He said that clarity of thought and command on language are important for any literary competition. He also elaborated how art and culture are inter-related and important for reflecting the realities of life.

Dr. Shikha, Dr. Bhanavi Wadhawan and Dr. Rupinder Singh conducted the stage.
