Teacher’s Day Celebration at MRS-PTU-Top Scientists and faculty facilitated for their contribution

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRS-PTU), Bathinda organized an impressive function to mark Teacher’s Day on Monday (5th September 2022) to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radha Krishnan, the second President of India, who was a great scholar, philosopher, diplomat and above all, a teacher.
Prof. Rupinder Tewari, mentor DST- Center for Policy Research, Punjab University, Chandigarh delivered a keynote address on the occasion highlighting the role of teachers in shaping the young minds. “A teacher is a beacon light that acts as a lighthouse to guide the stranded students in the sea of life,” he said.
He inspired the students to aim high and achieve their dreams through systematic studies, scientific thinking and humane values.
Prof. Tewari urged the teachers to keep themselves updated with the latest advancements in technology, IPR, CopyRight and related fields of study in order to teach their students more effectively while preparing them to become job ready professionals.
Prof. Tewari is the recipients of Common Wealth Academic Staff Scholarship awarded by the British Council (UK).
Teacher’s Day Celebration at MRS-PTU-Top Scientists and faculty facilitated for their contribution. Two scientists of MRS-PTU, Bathinda were facilitated, who have been listed in the World ranking of top 2 per cent Best Scientists in an independent study conducted by Stanford University (USA) for the 2019 and 2020 consecutively.
It may be mentioned here that Dr. Kawaljit Singh Sandhu, head Department of Food Science and Technology and Dr. Ashish Baldi from Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology, (MRSPTU), Bathinda made the university proud by getting featured among Top 2 percent best scientists across the globe in “Food Science” and “Pharmacy” domains respectively. Dr. Sandhu and Dr. Ashish Baldi set benchmarks in teaching & research in their respective fields.
While Prof. Sanjay Bhatnagar was honoured for his best performance in evaluation of academic effectiveness, instruction delivery and faculty performance on the basis of a study conducted by Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the University with the Help of NITTER, Chandigarh.
Facilitating the achievers on this occasion, MRSPTU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu congratulated them for bringing laurels to MRS-PTU through their research publications.
Speaking on the Teachers Day significance, Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu delivered an enlightening lecture to signify the importance of teachers and said that the glory of the Guru is great in the World. He reflected upon the status of a ‘guru’ in the ancient times with examples from history and present day scenarios. He talked about the role of teachers as nation builders.
Being a technical university,” We have a big responsibility on our shoulders to contribute to the progress of the nation. Teachers should love their profession and be “Role Model” for the students.
On this pious occasion of celebrating the contributions of teachers, I wish to express that “Each day, you come to University, ready to shape the future of the country. This is critically important, extra-ordinarily complex, often joyful and at times heartbreaking. Still, you give your 100 percent to help students to become their best selves,”.

Celebration came to an end after vote of thanks by Event Chief Coordinator, Prof. Balwinder Singh Sidhu. Prof. Manpreet Dhaliwal anchored the sage very well.
Registrar, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar, Deans, Directors were also present on the occasion. More than 300 faculty members of the campus from all disciplines and students attended the event.
