Tenth Foundation Day Celebrated at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib celebrated its Tenth Foundation Day by paying obeisance to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. SGPC President and University Chancellor Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar congratulated the University staff members, members of the University trust and other dignitaries present on the occasion. In his address to the gathering he said that the message of Guru Granth Sahib has a universal appeal and the University is making concerted efforts to spread this message to all corners of the world. The Chancellor said that this University is unique in itself because it is the first and the only University of the world which has been established on the name of a holy text. He was of the view that Guru Granth Sahib is a vast ocean of knowledge and the this knowledge should spread for the benefit of  humanity.

It is worth mentioning here that the preparations and execution of the celebrations were done by the students of the University. Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar announced that the students who participated in the events organised and who had performed Sehaj Path during the last academic year will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1,100/- each.

 The Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra congratulated everyone on the Tenth Foundation Day of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University and said that on this day every year the University introspects what it has achieved in the years gone by and what steps need to be taken for the future.  Vice Chancellor said that it is the mandate of the University to teach research oriented courses to the students so that they are able to compete at the global level. Darbara Singh Guru, Member-Secretary, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Fourth Centenary Memorial trust said that the SGPC and trust is committed for providing all kinds of help for the development of the University. He added that the has made rapid progress since its inception but there is lot more which needs to be done to establish this University as one of the premier higher education institutions in the country. The University honoured Bhai Raghuveer Singh, Jathedar, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib as well.
