The Department of English Organises Intra-Department Acting Competition at World University

The Department of English of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organised an Intra- Department Acting Competition on April 03, 2023. The students of the department performed different characters from English literature. The students participated with great gusto, as it gave them an opportunity to enact their favourite characters from literary texts. Their vigour and enthusiasm seem to bring the characters to life. The participants displayed great confidence and good acting skills. The faculty members Jaspreet Kaur and Simrajeet Kaur judged the participants for their confidence, presentation, costume, content, clarity of speech and language.
Amritpal Kaur of MA English first year was declared the best actor, she played the role of Lady Macbeth. Manjot Kaur and Jatinder Kaur of the same class secured second position, they enacted a scene from The Importance of Being Earnest and 3rd prize was bagged by Gurinder Singh of B. A. Hons in English second year and Navdeep Kaur of MA English first year for their role of Pearson and George from the play The Mother’s Day. The winners were felicitated with certificates and medals.
Dr. Ankdeep Kaur Attwal, Head of the Department graced the event with her presence and applauded the efforts of the students as well as of the Co-curricular Activities Incharge Simrajeet Kaur. She said that such theatrical activities are instrumental in an easy and thorough understanding of the Literary characters. Sandeep Kaur, convener of the event hosted the stage.
