Athletes, a manifestation of hard work, determination and practise demands sculpting through array of disciples, academics ad coaching.Exacting this intention, Punjab being a domicile to many prominent athletes has allowed to flourish a sports University which works as a promoter to the empowerment of athletic youth in the state.
The birth of The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, Patiala marks an inspirational vision in the field of sports. It’s very foundation in grains elements of progressive and far- reaching milestones in the sports dynamics. Being one among the pioneer’s sports University in the North region of India, the burden to shoulder such high expectations is quite challenging. Budging all the odds, the sole institution stands strong providing a very positive platform to the budding sports athletes of our country.
The institution in its inspectional stage embarked to project as well as advertise sports not as an additional asset in academic holistic grooming but as a very crucial skill with rewarding career opportunities.The institution is continuously chalking out innovative and progressive plans to accomplish objectives, focusing on physical education, sport sciences, and employment opportunities.
The institution forwards an innovation of introducing the discipline of Sport Sciences at the threshold of sports athletes. This enables a highly developed futuristic as well as global platform to Indian Sports strata.Sports science not only allows an understanding of the working of a healthy human body during exercise but evaluate and advise on coaching, training, competition and recovery practises in all levels of sport.
The exemplar of Sports science has allowed to emphasize on Sports more than just mere physical exercise but a major turnout in a comprehensive forwarding asset to Athletic Health spectrum. This will allow safeguarding many from unsaid and unexplained depletion in graphic increase in sports growth. This Sports Science upheaval has allowed the institution an amalgamation of students from the field of science to very easily compensate their strong capacities of thought to flourish along with organic sports cult.
To provide impetus toward enhancing standard of sports in Punjab, the University is developing the Curriculum and requisite sporting infrastructure for the post graduate diploma in sports coaching. Construction of a dedicated Boxing Hall and renovation of Basketball courts in Gursewak College Patiala, besides upgradation of Handball and Volleyball Courts in Sports College Jalandhar laced with Scientific support infrastructure will provide the ideal platform for conducting Sports Coaching courses in the University
The Government of Punjab has nominated Professor Gursewak Singh Government College of Physical Education, Patiala, The Government Arts and Sports College Jalandhar and Guru Nanak College, Kala Afghana as Constituent Colleges. These colleges have become fully functional from this year and it is encouraging to see the vibrancy and enthusiastic spirit being created of these institutions. The rejuvenation process of all the constituent colleges is in full swing.
The institution houses sport Students from all parts of the country ranging from Jammu and Kashmir, Sikkim, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh to as far as Andaman Nicobar which has provided a beautiful blend of multi-cultural unity to the entire institution. The able and far-sighted dominance of the institution tries day in and out to enthusiastically inject elements of novelty and catapult this platform to new heights of achievement and establish in Punjab a world class premiere sports institution.
