Nabha Power Limited, which operates the 2x700MW supercritical thermal power plant at Rajpura, in continuation of its commitment to promoting education in the rural areas around the plant, today launched a campaign to distribute more than 5,100 school kits among rural students aimed at improving retention in government schools and increasing students’ interest.
The Nabha Power School Kits comprise a school bag with a foldable desk, an eco-friendly stainless steel water bottle, and a pencil box. The desk is an excellent solution for students who don’t have access to a dedicated study space at home or in the classroom. The kit is intended for nearly 5,100 students pursuing their education in government schools covered under Nabha Power’s CSR initiatives.
While launching the campaign, the Chief Executive of Nabha Power, SK Narang, said, “It was our consistent efforts to improve the learning levels of students in rural Punjab. Ensuring basic facilities in every school around the plant was one of the key focus areas for the company, and the initiatives being taken by Nabha Power will go a long way in enabling inclusive education for all.”
The school bag is a patented product of a social enterprise, incubated in IIT Kanpur, and IIM Bengaluru. It’s a school bag with a detachable study table; a learning aid for children that allows them to make ‘any space’ a ‘study space.’ This is designed to be extremely useful for outdoor classes, classrooms that don’t have desks, and for studies at home. It will help them maintain the correct posture while studying, which is critical for their overall well-being.
To Promote Inclusive Education, Nabha Power Distributes School Kits to Rural Students. Nabha Power has taken the initiative to provide students with eco-friendly alternatives and cut down the use of plastic as the school kits include eco-friendly stainless steel water bottles and pencil boxes. The water bottle will help students cultivate a habit of staying hydrated, which is crucial for their health.
“By providing students with the necessary tools, infrastructure, and resources, Nabha Power is not only supporting their education but also empowering them to build a better future for themselves and their families,” Narang said.
