Tough road ahead for Congress MLAs close aide; ED started investigation

After Punjab police, state excise department started investigation in the famous illegal liquor distillery busted at Ghanour, in Rajpura, today Niranjan Singh Deputy Director, Enforcement Directorate (ED) started investigation. This illegal liquor distillery at Ghanour, was busted by Patiala Police, last month.
Niranjan Singh, who investigated the “Jagdish Bhola drug racket case”, visited senior superintendent of police (SSP) Mandeep Singh Sidhu’s office to get the documents, related to illegal liquor distillery at Ghanour including seeking records, including FIRs, investigation findings, bank details related to illicit liquor trade cases.
Few days ago ED had wrote an official letter to SSP Patiala in this regard and toady’s visit of Niranjan Singh Deputy Director, Enforcement Directorate (ED) Punjab, is related to this. Later he also visited local vigilance office.
The directorate, conducting probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), is looking into the various FIRs registered in various police stations in Patiala, Khanna and Ludhiana, after the illegal trade was busted by Punjab police.
Congress-backed Khanpur Khurd sarpanch Amrik Singh, who is also an aide of Congress MLA Madan Lal Jalalpur, the main accused in the case, surrendered at Shambhu police station after the ED started investigation in this illegal liquor trading. As soon as the ED issues letter demanding documents related to this case, Amrik Singh, who was untraceable, suddenly came and surrendered before the police.
Tough road ahead for Congress MLAs close aide; ED started investigation a last month Patiala police and the Excise Department raided an illegal distillery-cum-liquor-bottling plant, operating from a cold store, which was making huge money during the lockdown by selling illicit liquor under the pretext of popular brands. The accused were making liquor by diluting extra neutral alcohol (ENA), which was available at a cheaper price, and sold it at exorbitant rates and make crores of money.
Later Patiala Police booked Khanpur Khurd sarpanch Amrik Singh, and Dipesh Kumar of Rajpura, after the raid. Dipesh, who is believed to be the kingpin of the racket, has already been arrested.
