TSPL extends support to Damdama Sahib Langar Sewa

COVID-19 has impacted the livelihood of hundreds of underprivileged especially the daily wagers across the country. In Punjab, most of them having lost their jobs and source of income to extended period of lockdown are now dependent on langar(community kitchen) service organized by Gurudwaras for their daily meals.

Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, one of the five holy shrines of Sikhism, situated in Talwandi Sabo, Punjab, in close vicinity to Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), is catering to close to 3000 people per day through its Langar service.

TSPL has always been on the forefront when it comes to giving back to the society especially during uncertain times like these. In continuation to its COVID-19 relief measures, TSPL Management has extended ration support for langar service organized by Damdama Sahib Management committee to cater to about. 20,000 people.

Speaking on the occasion,Vikas Sharma, CEO and WTD, TSPL said, “TSPL remains committed to supporting our communities in times of duress. Nothing can be nobler than feeding thousands of people in need, we are blessed to be able to contribute towards this cause. We shall continue to support Takht Shri Damdama Sahibwith all our means and capacity for continuing this service to reach out to masses.”

Paramjit Singh, Manager, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee expressing his gratitude said, “TSPL has always supported us and we are thankful for this kind gesture which will go a long way in feeding thousands of people.”

Present on the occasion were, Pankaj Sharma, Head Operations &Maintenance, Khirod Barik, Chief Human Resource Officer, Gurudev Singh, Kulwinder Singh Bangi,Bhola Singh and Mandeep sigh from Damdama Sahib Management Committee.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Mansa,TSPL has been working closely working with the district and police administration for effectively rolling out its community outreach initiatives. Besides this, the company has supported hundreds of needy families with dry ration kits, conducted fumigation and disinfection in many villages in the vicinity of the plant, police check posts, Primary Health Centre and as well as common areas and public offices in Mansa. Additionally, essential services’ support was extended to police personnel on COVID duty, and thousands of masks, PPE,etc. were handed over to the district administration for usage in the fight against the pandemic.
