TSPL organised ‘Kisan Sammelan’ to Felicitate Progressive Farmers

Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), the largest thermal power plant in Punjab, organised ‘Kisan Sammelan’in village Raipur, Mansa to felicitate 100 farmers (associated with TSPL Navi Disha project) for adopting best agriculture practices. These farmers shared their experiences and encouraged other farmers to adopt eco-friendly farm practices for increased yields and enhanced income.
TSPL’s‘Navi Disha’project isa CSR flagship project aiming at promotion of sustainable agriculture practices. Project has an overall outreach of over 1500 farmers from 26 villages of Mansa and Bhatinda districts of Punjab.Those felicitated on theoccasion are farmers long associated with the projecthaving adopted sustainable farm practices such as adoption of bed plantation, inter cropping, optimising seed and fertiliser usage, using bio waste decomposer for managing crop residue etc.
While felicitating the progressive farmers, Dr.Manjit Singh,Chief Agriculture Officer Mansa, appreciated TSPL’s Navi Disha initiative and remarked, “Project like Navi Disha is leading the way for creating greater awareness on sustainable farm practices, these pioneering efforts will go a long way in encouraging farmers for reducing input cost and enhancing their income. It delights me to see that you realise the importance of these techniques and are setting an example for other fellow farmers to follow the league.”
TSPL organised ‘Kisan Sammelan’ to Felicitate Progressive Farmers. Speaking about TSPL’s role in elevating rural agrarian economy in the area, Mantosh Sinha,O&M Head,TSPL said, “Farmers are the backbone of our economy. With the concerted efforts of the team, we are committed to extend all possible technical and knowledge support to the farming community. We believe that enabled with technology, know how and expertise, the farming community can bring about a phenomenal change in the socio-economic fabric of our country. We have set up Farmers Resource Centre to assist them with adequate knowledge and technical support helping them reduce input cost and enhance their income.”
