TSPL Organized ‘Diwali Haat’ to Promote Rural Craft

Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), largest thermal power plant in Punjab organized ‘Diwali Haat’ in its plant premises. The ‘Diwali Haat’ stall showcased handcrafted items prepared by rural SHG women associated with TSPL’s TARA (TSPL Action for Rural Ajeevika) project with a strong membership base of over 1000 rural women from nearby villages.

TSPL’s flagship project TARA aims at training the Self-Help Group women enhancing their skills and linking them with various income generation opportunities. In its endeavor to provide them a platform to showcase, market and sell their products a two-day Diwali Haat Stall was organized in TSPL. The stall displayed several handcrafted items ranging from colorful ‘diyas’, floating candles to ethic lampshades,’ phulkari’ work etc. garnering an overwhelming response from TSPL and its Business partner employees purchasing various decorative items for the festivities ahead.

Chellanwali village resident and an active SHG member Ms. Harjinder Kaur, thanked TSPL for their support and said,” This is my first ever visit to TSPL plant and this is like a dream come true. I take this opportunity to thank TSPL for this project and giving us an opportunity to showcase and sell our products to the employees. We have received encouraging response and am looking forward to more such opportunities in future as well.”
