Two academic programs Refresher Course and Short-Term Programme commenced at MMTTC, Punjabi University

Under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh,The Malaviya Mission Teachers Training Centre (MMTTC), Punjabi University Patiala, marked yet another milestone by commencing two significant capacity-building programmes — a Refresher Course in Social Sciences and a Short-Term Programme on “National Education Policy: Orientation and Sensitization.”
Dr. Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC, warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University Patiala. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his constant encouragement and visionary support in strengthening the Centre’s activities. Dr. Maini also gave a brief overview of the robust infrastructure, advanced facilities, and dedicated team that have enabled MMTTC to become a hub for quality teacher training and academic development.
In his welcome address, Dr. Maini extended his appreciation to the coordinators of both the courses, acknowledging their hard work and commitment in conceptualising and executing these programmes successfully. He further welcomed all the participants, emphasizing that the courses have been thoughtfully designed to provide a rich learning experience and to promote knowledge sharing among faculty members from diverse disciplines.
Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, in his inaugural address, congratulated the MMTTC team for initiating two highly relevant and timely programmes. He spoke about the crucial role of the Refresher Course in Social Sciences in updating faculty members on emerging perspectives, research trends, and interdisciplinary approaches. He further highlighted the importance of the NEP Orientation and Sensitization Programme, describing it as vital for equipping teachers with the understanding and skills needed to implement the transformative vision of the National Education Policy 2020.
He urged all participants to actively engage in discussions, share ideas, and make the sessions as interactive and meaningful as possible. Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singhlauded MMTTC for consistently launching innovative programmes that address the evolving needs of educators and contribute to the overall academic excellence of the University.
Dr. Dharampal Singh Mor, Course Coordinator for the Refresher Course, elaborated on the objectives of the Refresher Course in Social Sciences, explaining how the course is structured to cover contemporary issues, policy debates, and methodological advancements in various social science disciplines. He encouraged participants to use this opportunity to refresh their knowledge base and build collaborative academic networks.
Dr. Himender Bharti, Coordinator for the NEP Orientation and Sensitization Programme, shared a detailed outline of the sessions planned under this programme. He emphasized that the NEP 2020 brings a paradigm shift in the education system and that teachers must fully understand its core principles to ensure its successful implementation. He assured participants that the programme would focus on practical strategies, best practices, and interactive discussions to bridge policy and practice.
Towards the end, Dr. Lakhvir Singh proposed a heartfelt vote of thanks. He expressed his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh for his inspiring words and invaluable support.
