Unknown person booked for impersonating as CMD,PSPCL

Patiala police has registered a case under section 66 (D) of IT Act 2000 (by means for any communication device or computer resource cheats by personating), against unknown person for impersonating as CMD, Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) on the complaint of Baldev Singh Sran, CMD,PSPCL at Kotwali Police Station.

On July 26,2022, Sran filed a complaint with the SSP,Patiala about the impersonation by some persons as CMD, PSPCL, read, “ various officers/ officials of PSPCL are receiving Whatasapp messages from Mobile numbers 9798210449 and 6354462849 where in it has been reported that some unknown person is impersonating as CMD, PSPCL (Er Baldev Singh Sran), using his Photo as DP and trying to chat or commit a fraud. Screenshots of some of the messages are enclosed for your reference. It is requested that an FIR may please be ordered to be lodged immediately, against the culprits.”

After investigating the matter, Cyber cell and Punjab Bureau of investigation has  recommended the registration of FIR in this case.
