Vigilance nabs three Wakf board employees for taking bribe

State Vigilance Bureau today arrested three employees of Punjab Wakf Board for accepting bribe of Rs. 35,000/-.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Ali Hasan Estate officer, Mohamad Yasin clerk and Mohamad Yusuf peon, all posted at Punjab Wakf Board, Jalandhar were arrested on the complaint of Mohan Lal of Sunder Nagar, Jalandhar city.
The complaint has approached the VB and alleged that the above said accused were demanding Rs. 40,000 to settle pending rent of a plot which was leased to him by Punjab Wakf Board. He further informed that he had already paid Rs. 5,000 as a bribe to them.
After verifying his information, Vigilance team laid a trap and the above said accused were arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.35,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He informed that a case under of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the above said accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigations were under progress.
