Withdraw privatisation plan of UP power Discoms- AIFAP

All India Forum Against Privatization (AIFAP) demanded that privatization of UP power Discoms be withdrawn immediately in the larger interest of farmers, consumers and the working class.
This resolution was passed in the all India conference on privatisation of the electricity sector and others held today at New Delhi. The conference was attended by the representatives of 20 federations of public sector units. All the federations vehemently opposed privatisation of public sector units .
Shailendra Dubey Chairman AIPEF briefed the gathering about the developments in the Uttar Pradesh power sector in detail. Various speakers emphasised that electricity is not a commodity for profiteering.They supported the struggle of electricity employees of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and other states against privatisation. They condemned the UP government’s attempt to crush the democratic right to strike.
The meeting demanded Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and other states to stop all their plans to privatise the electricity sector through any means in the name of reforms. The centre and state governments should make capital to upgrade the distribution system to reduce losses ,improve the quality of supply and bring down power rates.
All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) , All India Federation of Power Diploma Engineers , All India Federation of Electricity Employees, Indian National Electricity workers Federation, All India Powermen’s Federation, All India Railwaymen’s Federation, All India Insurance Employees Association, . All India Bank officers confederation , All India Trade Union Congress, National Confederation Officers Association and other federations participated in the five hour long proceedings.
