World Glaucoma day observed at Civil Hospital

The Health and Family Department Punjab is observing World Glaucoma Week from March 12 to March 16. Under this, the health department Bathinda today observed the day at Civil Hospital Bathinda.

Giving information here today the assistant civil surgeon Dr Kundan Pal stated that glaucoma is an ailment of eye, which is caused when fluid in the eye gets pressurized. When treated timely, one can save loss of vision. He added that any kind of abnormal headache, change of vision glasses number, seeing extra bright areas around various things, pain in eye and redness are some of the main symptoms of glaucoma. He added that people suffering from diabetes, hypertension, allergic, asthmatic, skin problems or those using steroid for health purposes are more vulnerable to it. He advised that people should keep on getting their vision checked regularly.

Dr Dimpy kakkar and Ophthalmic officer Swatantar gupta have detailed information about the ailment. Dist Mass Media officer Jagtar Singh gave detailed information of measles rubella vaccine campaign that is being run in April.
