World University Commemorating the Martyrdom by Organising Various Camps during Shaheedi Sabha

Commemorating the unique martyrdom of Mata Gujari Ji, Baba Zoravar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib is organizing various service camps during the Shaheedi Sabha. In this regard, a press conference was organised by the University Public Relations office. Dr. Ajaib Singh Brar, Pro-Chancellor of the University, Advocate Amardeep Singh Dharni, member Trust of the University, the vice chancellor Dr. Prit Pal Singh, and Dean Academic Affairs Dr SS Billing addressed the media persons.

Dr. Brar shared with the media that the University, whole heartedly committed to the cause of Education and to spread the pious message of the Sikh Gurus among the youngsters, has planned various camps during the Shaheedi Sabha. He said the University believes in welfare of all and in serving humanity at large, particularly the needy and the poor. With this mandate, the focus of the University is to provide education to each and every student in the best possible way. He said that he is sure that the University will be successful to bring the much desired social change in coming times by breaking the stereotypes created by the society since ages. He informed that at present more than 2500 students are studying under Post Matric scholarship in the University, besides this the University also provides scholarships worth crores to the meritorious students. He expressed his delight that this year on the one hand more than expected admissions are taken in professional courses, and on the other hand students who are the toppers of their institutes have taken admission, here. He gave the credit for this, to the high teaching quality and discipline in the University.

Dr. Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the University while taking to media persons informed that during the Sabha, World Cancer Care Charitable Society, England, in collaboration with the World University has started a three day Cancer check up and awareness camp. The doctors will make people aware about the symptoms and preventive measures against cancer. Besides these, free eye check up camp, free Physiotherapy and Homeopathy camps, Book exhibition, Turban tying training camp and the screening of religious documentaries are being organised. He said that the dissemination of education is the most effective way of bringing in a social change. With this view, the University is organising a large scale book exhibition this year, in which more than thirty publishers will participate.

In his address, Advocate Amardeep Singh Dharni said that he is happy that the University administration and staff is serving the cause of humanity in a very dedicated way. Deliberating upon the vision of the University, he said that the main objective of these camps being organised by the University during the Shaheedi Sabha is to spread awareness among the masses, especially the youth so that they can be guided and inspired by the martyrdom of Mata Gurji Ji, Baba Zoravar Singh Ji, and Baba Fateh Singh Ji at Fatehgarh Sahib. He assured that his motive to take this University to the zenith of success and to represent it at the international level. He said that name of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, itself bears the bliss of our Guru and it is the duty of each and every Sikh to contribute to the growth of the University. He laments the indifference of the government in clearing the scholarship amount worth Rs. 10 crores, due to which the University faces difficulty in serving the humanity, specially youth, the way it wants to serve. The University is polishing the young minds not only as competent professionals but also as honest, compassionate and hardworking human beings.

Dean Academic Affairs of the University Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing informed that the events are being organised by the Students’ Welfare office under the deanship of Dr. Sikander Singh. Dr. Pankajpreet Singh, In charge, Department of Physiotherapy informed that they had started organising the medical and physiotherapy camps during Shaheedi Sabha in 2014 and has continued the tradition since then. Every year, around 3000 patients are benefiited from these camps. Dr. Hardev Singh, Assistant Professor in religious studies while sharing the details of the book fair, hoped that it will be a grand success.
