YPS Student Mankeert Kaur bought laurels to State

Punjab forward Mankeert Kaur Narang represented the state at the recently held Khelo India Youth Games 2019 in Pune, Maharashtra. Part of the Under-17 Basketball team, Mankeert was a key player of the team that convincingly beat down Tamil Nadu with a score of 76-71 in the finals, and managed to win a gold at the 2nd Khelo India Youth Games. “All the hard work and perseverance finally paid off,” said an elated Mankeert.
Playing the sport since the age of 11 years, she believes that the game has helped tremendously in shaping her personality. She is grateful to her coaches, and family for their undying support. ”They’ve always pushed me to work harder, and to never give up on my dreams.” Mankeert was part of the team who won the 35th Youth National Games 2018 held at Udaipur, Rajasthan.
She is currently the Sports Captain of Yadavindra Public School, and was honoured with the Parman Patra on behalf of the Punjab government during the Republic Day Celebrations.
Khelo India Youth Games 2019, Maharashtra
Khelo India Youth Games is a part of the revamped national programme for development of sports, Khelo India. After the resounding success of the Khelo India School Games in 2018, 2019 games was a much bigger and better version as the Youth Games. For the first time students from colleges and universities are participated, and had a total of 9000 participants who participated in the games.
