Yuva Sangam Manipur student delegates on exposure visit to Punjab visited the NSNIS, Patiala

The 30-member Yuva Sangam Manipur student contingent, which is on a week-long educational and cultural exposure visit to Punjab (scheduled from March 7–11, 2023), managed by the Central University of Punjab, visited the Sports Authority of India’s Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala, on Thursday.
Yuva Sangam, an initiative of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is mooted with an aim to strengthen people to people connect and build empathy between the youth of the north-eastern states and the rest of India. The Manipur delegates arrived in Punjab on Monday evening. On arrival at the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB), the delegates received a warm welcome from Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, MP, Bathinda constituency, and Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor, CUPB. In the first two days, the contingent visited Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, National Martyrs Memorial Hussainiwala and got exposed to the culture of Punjab during a special cultural programme and Holi celebrations organised by the Central University of Punjab.
The Manipur student delegates were mesmerised to see the facilities of Asia’s largest sports institute, ‘Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), Patiala’. The delegates were glad to know that the famous players and athletes of Manipur, such as Mary Kom (a boxer), Sushila Chanu (a former Indian field hockey player and former captain of the national team), Kunjarani Devi (an acclaimed sportswoman in weightlifting), and many others, have visited this place.
The delegates got an opportunity to meet famous discuss throw player Shri Shakti Singh, Arjun Awardee. On this occasion, Shri Rajbir Singh, Deputy Director. briefed them that this institute is popularly known as the “Mecca” of Indian Sports and has produced Coaches of high caliber and significantly contributed in rendering their expertise and assistance in the preparation of the national teams for various international competitions.
The entire tour of these delegates has been planned, and the itinerary has been designed to provide them with multi-dimensional exposure of Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Prodyogik (Technology) and Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect).
The Central University of Punjab, a nodal centre for the Punjab region under the Yuva Sangam Programme, is making hospitality arrangements and providing support for the smooth execution of the exposure trip in coordination with other government departments.
Yuva Sangam Manipur student delegates on exposure visit to Punjab visited the NSNIS, Patiala. The Manipur delegates will travel to various cities in Punjab over the next two days, including Chandigarh, Sri Anandpur Sahib, and Amritsar.
