8-day Programme on National Education Policy (NEP):Orientation and Sensitization begins at MMTTC Punjabi University

Under the Dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor Kamal Kishore Yadav , UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) Punjabi University, Patiala started an 8-day Programme on National Education Policy (NEP):Orientation and Sensitization.

The purpose of this orientation programme is to prepare teachers for academic excellence, effective professional performance and active engagement in the task of national reconstruction and to popularize National Education Policy.  Prof. Raman Maini, Director of the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala, stated that the programme, organized under the guidelines of the UGC-MHRD, will be conducted online from September 3 to September 12, 2024.

Prof. Maini welcome the chief guest of the day Prof. Rekha Bhan Koul, from School of Education, Curtin University, Australia, Course Coordinators and all participants. He thanked Course Coordinators Dr Mamta Sharma Professor of Psychology and Dr Jagpreet Kaur Head Department Of Education And Community Service Punjabi University Patiala for their efforts in inviting Internationally renowned resource persons for the NEP Orientation & Sensitization Program”

The chief guest of the day Prof. Rekha Bhan Koul, Dean International, Faculty of Humanities and Associate Professor at STEM Research Group, School of Education, Curtin University, Australia, emphasized that NEP 2020 is the 21st Century’s first education policy in India. She said NEP 2020 will prepare our youth to meet the diverse national and global challenges of the present and the future. She remarked that this policy is designed to foster holistic development in students by integrating traditional knowledge with modern skills. Prof. Koul emphasized that on school education, the National Education stresses on the core values and principle that education must develop not only the cognitive skills, that is, – both ‘foundational skills’ of literacy and numeracy and ‘higher-order’ skills.

The Course Coordinator Dr.Mamta Sharma, Professor of Psychology and Course Co-CoordinatorDr Jagpreet Kaur, Head Department of Education and Community Service introduced the participants about the course.  Dr Mamta Sharma introduced the participants about various themes of the National Education Policy and encouraged them for active participation.
