NIS Patiala to launch ‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays’ initiative; Olympians to join open for all cycling joy ride event-Gill

Fit India Cycling Tuesdays event on 17 December, Shakti Singh, Tejinder Pal Singh Toor, Rani Rampal & Anu Rani to Join NIS Patiala Event.
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, will flag off the ‘Fit India Cycling Tuesdays’ initiative on December 17, 2024 in New Delhi.
On the same day, the cycling event will be organised at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Regional Centre in NIS Patiala.
NIS Patiala’s event will witness Shakti Singh (Former Olympian), Tejinderpal Singh Toor (Asian gold medalist and Olympian), Rani Rampal (Olympian) and Anu Rani (Olympian) and local administrative leading 10-kilometer cycling joy ride NIS Campus to Fountain Chowk via Lower mall road and back.
Deputy Director, NS NIS Patiala, Dr. Rajbir Singh Gill said that the event will feature elite athletes from Punjab including the National Athletic Team, NCOE Athletes alongside local fitness enthusiasts and sports lovers.
Tuesday’s event at the NS NIS Patiala will showcase the region’s commitment to promoting cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation and a form of exercise. The event is open for all and will be flagged off at 7:00 in the morning. The aarticipants will go from the NIS Campus to Fountain Chowk via Lower Mall Road and back.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is conducting these events in direct collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India (CFI), MY Bharat, SAI regional centres, National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs), Khelo India centres (KICs), and district administrations.
The Fit India Cycling Tuesdays initiative will spread to over 1000 venues across India on December 17, 2024, with simultaneous events happening across SAl regional centres. Following the launch, cycling events will continue every Tuesday nationwide.

The movement focuses overall on the health aspect, sports aspect, and promotion of indigenous games of the country.
