Mega rally at Lucknow against privatisation of power distribution

A mega rally by sixteen trade unions and associations of Uttar Pradesh was held today in Lucknow against the privatization of electricity distribution corporations under the aegis of Vidyut Karamchari Joint Sangharsh Samiti. More than 25,000-30,000 employees from 10 states participated in this rally.
Power Engineers from Punjab,Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir,and Uttarakhand addressed the rally. Ajay Pal Singh Atwal general secretary PSEB Engineers Association supported the demands of UP employees.
Various speakers including Shailendra Dubey Chairman All India power Engineers Federation (AIPEF), Rathnakar Rao secretary general AIPEF while addressing the rally demanded that the UP government immediately scrap the appointment process of a transaction consultant, calling it unlawful and corrupt.
In view of this mega rally, the administration remained on alert. Heavy police force has been deployed outside the field hostel, the venue of the meeting.
The Vidyut Karamchari Joint Sangharsh Samiti of Uttar Pradesh gave this information. The committee officials had directly contacted the electricity workers and invited them to join the rally. The Sangharsh Samiti had appealed not only to the electricity workers but also to the employee unions and labour organisations of other government departments so that they join this movement against privatisation and participate in the rally.
