As part of the Punjab Government’s transformative “Sikhya Kranti” initiative aimed at strengthening the education sector, major inauguration ceremonies were held across Patiala district today. Development works totaling Rs. 4.29 crore were formally inaugurated in 30 government schools, reflecting the government’s commitment to upgrading educational infrastructure and creating a conducive learning environment for students.

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh led the initiative by inaugurating new classrooms, boundary walls, science laboratories, and other key infrastructure upgrades at Government Primary Schools in Indira Colony, Hardaspur, and Karamgarh, as well as at the Government Senior Secondary School in Nandpur Kesho. Joining him in this district-wide effort were local MLAs, who dedicated similar development projects in their respective constituencies.

MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli of Patiala inaugurated works at Government Multipurpose Senior Secondary School and Government Model Senior Secondary School, Civil Lines, Patiala. MLA Gurlal Singh Ghanaur (Ghanaur constituency) participated in ceremonies at Ajrawar, Suhron, and Harpalpur. MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Mann (Nabha) was present at Gurdittpura, Saluwal, and Bhilowal. MLA Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra (Sanaur) attended events in Bahadurgarh, Sahib Nagar Therri, and Raipur. MLA Kulwant Singh Bazigar (Shutrana) marked the inauguration in Karimnagar, Kartarpur, and Shadipur, while MLA Chetan Singh Jouramajra (Samana) took part in ceremonies at Fatehgarh Chhanna, Aalampur, Talwandi Malik, and Bhagwanpur Khatriwala.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to making education the bedrock of the state’s progress. He highlighted that government schools are being developed not just as centers of academic excellence but as dynamic spaces for holistic societal development.

The events were attended by District Education Officer (Secondary) Sanjiv Sharma, District Education Officer (Elementary) Shalu Mehra, Deputy DEOs Ravinderpal Sharma and Manvinder Kaur Bhullar, Constituency Education Coordinators, Master Trainer of the Malwa Zone Vijay Kumar Mainro, BPEOs, school principals, teachers, students, their parents, municipal councillors, sarpanches, panchayat members, and other local officials.

Public participation was encouraged, with open invitations extended to community members to visit their local schools and witness the upgrades first-hand. The Punjab Government’s vision is to equip government schools with state-of-the-art infrastructure, modern amenities, and technology-integrated learning environments—ensuring students are empowered and future-ready.
