Railway Police Recover One Kilogram of Opium from Woman passenger; case registered

As part of ongoing checks on trains and passengers, the Railway Police recovered one kilogram of opium from a woman passenger at Rajpura (in Patiala district) Railway Station.
A case under FIR No. 11 dated 27.04.2025, registered under Sections 18/61/85 of the NDPS Act at GRP Police Station Patiala, has been initiated, and further investigation is underway.
Providing details, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Railways) Jagmohan Singh Sohi said that under Punjab Government’s anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh,” and following the directions of Special DGP Railways Punjab, Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, and instructions from AIG Railways, Amarpal Singh Ghumman, intensified checking of trains and passengers is being carried out by Inspector Jatinder Singh, Incharge CIA-2, GRP Punjab, and his team.
During a checking operation on April 27, 2025, one kilogram of opium was seized from Champa Devi alias Champa, wife of Anokhe Lal, son of Keso Ram, resident of Village Kamalpur, Police Station Aliganj, District Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. Following the recovery, an FIR was registered and legal proceedings have begun.
DSP Jagmohan Singh Sohi further added that GRP Punjab will continue to conduct strict and targeted operations against drug trafficking in the future to ensure a drug-free environment.
