An awareness lecture on “Management and Prevention of Animal Bites” organised by Punjabi University Health Centre

Under the resilient and empathetic leadership of Vice Chancellor, Dr.Jagdeep Singh, Bhai Ghaniya Health Centre, Punjabi University,Patiala in collaboration with Department of Community Medicine,Govt. Medical college and Rajindra Hospital, Patiala organised a Lecture on “Management and Prevention of Animal Bites” in Senate Hall, VC Office, Punjabi University, Patiala. The lecture was followed by the open discussion with the audience.

Dr.Priya Sahni, Department of Community Medicine, Govt. Medical College and Rajindra Hospital, Patiala delivered the lecture about the animal bites and their management,  symptoms of rabid dogs and myths about Anti Rabies Vaccines. Dr Dimple Sahni , Prof and Head Department of ENT ,Govt. Medical College and Rajindra Hospital, Patiala also graced the occasion.

Dr. Regina Maini, Senior Medical Officer welcomed the guests and the dignitaries present in the Lecture.

Dr.Narinder Kaur Multani, Dean Academics introduced the lecture and told  about the high number of dog bites cases and the panic prevailing among the residents in the campus.

Dr.Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala while addressing the gathering said that the university authorities are highly serious about tackling with the Animal bites problems in the University campus. He invited all from the audience to share their thoughts. He said a Committee has been constituted which will include persons from various fields and will report to him in a stipulated period of time. He appreciated the efforts made by Dr Regina Maini, SMO and Health Centre staff for arranging the lecture.

Dr Sanjiv Puri while proposing the Vote Of thanks said the University authorities are contacting the District administration ,Patiala for finding the amicable solution for the dogs in the campus.

Dr Regina Maini, Senior Medical Officer said seeing the large number of dog bites in the University campus , after the discussion with the Honourable Vice Chancellor ,Registrar and Dean Academics, it was decided to invite Dr Priya Sahni, Department of Community Medicine, Govt. Medical College and Rajindra Hospital, Patiala to discuss about the dog bites.

An awareness lecture on “Management and Prevention of Animal Bites” organised by Punjabi University Health Centre. Dr Regina Maini thanked Dr Priya Sahni for delivering the lecture and guiding about the dog bites, their management and the myths. She thanked Dr Dimple Sahni for gracing the occasion.

She thanked Dr Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor for his support and guidance, she thanked Dr Narinder Kaur Multani , Dean Academics, Dr Sanjiv Puri, Registrar, Dr Parmod Agarwal, Finance Officer , Dr Raman Maini, Director, MMTTC  (HRDC) and the staff of Health centre for their efforts in organising this lecture.
