Rapist, murderer baba gets another parole

Controversial, rapist Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is a convict in the rape and murder cases, walked out of Rohtak’s Sunaria jail and headed to his Sirsa headquarters in his cavalcade.
He was granted 40-day parole, three months after he was given a 21-day furlough. This is Singh’s 14th temporary release from the jail since 2020. The self-styled godman walked out of the Sunaria jail in Haryana’s Rohtak, reportedly for the 14th time since 2017. In total, he has spent 326 days out of the jail until now.
In January, baba was granted a 30-day parole, ahead of the February 5 Delhi Assembly polls and he was also granted a 20-day parole on October 1 last year, ahead of the October 5 Haryana Assembly polls.
Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years in 2017 for raping two of his disciples. In 2019, he and three others were also convicted for the murder of a journalist Ram Chander Chhatarpati. He was also sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2002 murder of his manager, Ranjit Singh. However, he, along with four others – Avtar Singh, Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh, and Sabdil Singh – were acquitted in May 2024, citing “tainted and sketchy” investigations in the matter.
