Born on October 12, 1979, in Jammu and Kashmir, Manhas carved out a distinguished career in Indian domestic cricket, despite never representing the national team. A right-handed batsman known for his consistency, he also bowled occasional off-spin and was capable behind the stumps when needed.

Mithun Manhas was a key figure for Delhi, often leading the side in the absence of senior players away on international duty. He notably captained the team during a pivotal phase that saw a young Virat Kohli make his debut, building a strong rapport with the future India captain.

Over his domestic career, Manhas featured in 157 first-class matches, amassing 9,714 runs at an impressive average of nearly 46. His record includes 27 centuries and 49 half-centuries. His standout season came in 2007–08, when he led Delhi to a long-awaited Ranji Trophy triumph, scoring 921 runs in the campaign.
