Patiala Foundation, established on November 9, 2009, celebrated its 17th Foundation Day with an inspiring VIII Mega Heritage Walk under its iHERITAGE Initiative at Musafir Memorial Central State Library, Patiala. This milestone event brought together an energetic cross-section of Patiala’s civil society, with notable participation by Theatre Forum Patiala, PCMS Association Patiala, Book Lovers Retreat and Jagat Guru State Open University, Patiala, RGNUL Legal Aid Clinic, Thapar University, Punjabi University and other educational institutions, all reaffirming their unwavering commitment to the city’s living heritage.

A highlight of the occasion was the unveiling of a cutting-edge digital resource: a virtual heritage walk specially designed for MMCSL by interns of Patiala Foundation under its iHERITAGE initiative. Chief Guest Anindita Mitra, Administrative Secretary, Department of Higher Education and School Education, Government of Punjab, dedicated the resource for community use, noting:
“This new community resource is dedicated for the use and benefit of Patiala’s citizens, offering broader access to the library’s historic archives and legacy. Heritage belongs to each of us, and its preservation requires bold partnership. I urge corporates to come forward and channel their CSR funds towards heritage recognition and cultural education let’s empower our youth and bring our city’s legacy the prominence it deserves.”

Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Founder of Patiala Foundation, addressed the gathering, “Every step we take on this journey is a pledge for tomorrow, and each of our volunteers is a silent hero powering our progress. As we launch this digital resource for MMCSL, our commitment is to continually update and expand it, ensuring our heritage is accessible, relevant, and inspiring for generations to come.” He also extended sincere thanks to CSDIREKT for supporting the iHERITAGE initiatives through its CSR partnership, enabling the Foundation to amplify its efforts in heritage education, cultural awareness, and community engagement.

The event also paid a delicious tribute to the city’s culinary traditions through the Food iHERITAGE Awards 2025, honouring local eateries and artisans who have preserved the authentic flavours of Patiala across generations. The awards received an overwhelming response with over 300 entries, out of which 48 were shortlisted, and 20 best entries, selected by a distinguished panel of six jury members, were honoured at the event. Special appreciation was extended to the staff of the Musafir Memorial Central State Library, led by Charanjeet Kaur, whose dedication, hospitality, and meticulous preparation added immense warmth and charm to the day. Their efforts in preserving and presenting the library’s heritage treasures were deeply lauded by all attendees.

He added: “Our volunteers’ generosity and steadfast support form the backbone of every initiative this success belongs as much to them as to anyone. The Heritage Walk was attended by Dr. Preeti Yadav, Deputy Commissioner Patiala , Hardeep Singh Badungar, Superintendent of Police, Prof. S S Raiky Principal GCG Patiala, R K Sharma, Chairman Patiala Foundation, HS Ahluwalia, Pawan Goyal, SP Chand, Anmoljit Singh, Dr. Nidhi Sharma, and Volunteers; Satnam Singh, Satyam, Gurwinder Singh, Kshitij Pratap, Nidash, Rudraksh Singh, Krishnakant Aarish, Gurmander Singh, Jaskaran Singh, Kawalpreet, Tarika Walia, Aditya Jasrotia, Navdeep Kaur and Harpreet Singh. The event concluded with renewed pledges for heritage stewardship and gratitude for the community’s collaborative spirit cementing Patiala Foundation’s mission: Connecting People, Building Communities that are Eco-Conscious, Sustainable, and Culturally Aware.
