Open University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rattan Singh meets Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria

Prof Rattan Singh, Vice-Chancellor, met Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria and apprised him about contribution of Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala in increasing enrolment of girl child in border districts, providing concessions to minorities and disseminating education to jail inmates of strategically important areas. The university has been propelling war against drugs and raising awareness in border areas.
Prof. Rattan Singh also highlighted on academic support provided by JGND PSOU to border areas through setting up of Regional Centres and Learner Support Centres in Zira and Tarn Taran. He emphasized that the university extended academic support through various schemes, especially free education to the specially-abled learners, in border areas and mentor learners, academic upgradation, digital learning and exposure to contemporary courses.
The discussions focused on evolving effective strategies to strengthen academic infrastructure, enhance faculty capacity, promote research and innovation, and improve student support mechanisms in these sensitive regions.
