IIT Ropar Hosts NCTE’s One-Day State-Level Workshop on Capacity Building for Nationwide Roll-out of NPST & NMM

Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar), in collaboration with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)successfully hosted a One-Day State-Level Workshop titled “Capacity Building of Stakeholders for Nationwide Roll-out of National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) and the National Mission for Mentoring (NMM)

The inaugural session was enriched by video messages from Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, Jayant Choudhry, Minister of State for Education, Vikas Gupta, Commissioner, Kendriya VidyalayaSangathan (KVS) and Prof. Pankaj Arora, Chairperson, NCTE. Their collective message underscored the national importance of equipping every teacher in India with the tools, standards, and mentoring support envisioned under NEP 2020. The workshop was graced by Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar, who delivered the Chief Guest Address.

The workshop served as a vital platform for Northern States and Union Territories, specifically targeting key functionaries of Punjab and Chandigarh, including Directors of School Education, Directors of SCERT, Principals of DIETs of Excellence, Nodal Officers, and Principals and Teachers of KVS, NVS, CBSE-affiliated, and State Board-affiliated schools.

The programme was designed around three core pillars namely conceptual orientation on NPST and NMM frameworks, live demonstration and hands-on registration on the NPST and NMM digital portals, and structured discussion, interaction, and feedback for effective rollout at the state level.

NCTE resource persons delivered comprehensive sessions on the National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) and the National Mission for Mentoring (NMM), guiding participants through the conceptual frameworks and the functionalities of the respective digital portals. An interactive Q&A session allowed participants to seek clarifications and engage directly with the content.

In a highly practical segment, participants undertook live, hands-on registration on the NPST and NMM portals, assisted by NCTE technical teams. This was followed by a structured feedback and interaction session that generated actionable insights for refining the national rollout strategy.
