DM Suicide Case: Food procurement agencies officers shut offices across Punjab, announces suspension of work

“Due to the tragic incident of Dr. Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, District Manager, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, Amritsar and Tarn Taran ending his life due to alleged political pressure, humiliation, bullying, mental tension and intimidation by the current Punjab Government Minister, Laljit Singh Bhullar, all District Managers (DMs) and District Food and Supplies Controllers (DFSCs) of the food grain procurement agencies in Punjab are standing in solidarity with the family of the late Dr. Gagandeep Singh Randhawa and with the Joint Coordination Committee of Food Grain Procurement Agencies. We are demanding the immediate justice for the family during this difficult time and have urged the police to promptly arrest the accused as per FIR No. 52 dated March 21, 2026’ said all the DMs, DFSCs of food procurement agencies, Punjab in a joint statement.
The DM Association of All Procurement Agencies, Punjab added that a joint resolution has been that from March 23, 2026, all official work of the food grain procurement agencies across Punjab will be suspended. Staff members of all district offices will participate in this protest, and all offices will remain closed as a mark of solidarity.
Furthermore, the group of District Managers from the warehousing corporation, along with DMs and DFSCs from other food grain procurement agencies, will join the protest/dharna organized by the Joint Coordination Committee. The protest will continue until justice is delivered to the aggrieved family.
