As part of the ongoing Road Safety Week a seminar on traffic rules was organized at Rayat-Bahra, Patiala Campus.
District Traffic in-charge of Police Karnail Singh visited the Rayat Bahra Patiala Campus along with his Traffic Police team and imparted knowledge about traffic rules to students, staff and bus drivers. The aim of the seminar was to inculcate good traffic sense, security among the bus fleet operators.
While addressing the students District Traffic In-charge Patiala Karnail Singh stressed that the any person who is driving a vehicle should not use mobile while driving. He counseled them to use fog lights during the winter season. Further, he said one should avoid rash driving and obey traffic rules, for their own security and others who were on roads.
He said that 70 per cent of road accidents could be avoided if we take care of these mandatory rules s. If a vehicle gives problems on the way it should be taken off the road so that the other vehicles did not suffer. All must make use of seat belt while driving. Bus drivers must undergo a refresher course at least once every six months. He also said driving license is mandatory for every vehicle driver.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions (RBGI), appreciated the traffic police for organizing the seminar. He said by developing a proper civic sense and discharging our responsibility as a responsible citizen of the society we can create a secure community.
Campus Director Dr Piush Verma said that “Accidents that occur on roads are merely because of trivial negligence, which can easily be avoided.” Dr Verma, on behalf of students who attended the seminar, assured the district authorities that they would abide by road safety rules. Director (Admin), and Principals of different colleges were also attended the seminar.
