The Punjab State Commission for Schedule Castes has ordered to file a case against a erring sub-inspector for giving false report about a person belonging to Dalit community under Schedule Caste Atrocities Prevention Act.

Disclosing this here today  Tejinder Kaur, Chairperson, Punjab State Commission for Schedule Castes said that Gursewak Singh, son of Jagdev Singh resident of Raikot had lodged a written complaint with the Commission against Amarjit Singh (Sub Inspector). The complainant told that the police official declared him anti social element without any criminal charge and completely ignored real facts.

SC Commission orders to register case against sub-inspector for giving misinformation.After perusal of the facts during the investigation, the commission found that these allegations come up in the application true.

Taking stern notice of this false and erroneous police report, the Commission has ordered Assistant Collector cum Sub Divisional Magistrate Raikot to register a case against the then Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Raikot Amarjit Singh under Section 4 & 5 of Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 which was amended in 2015 and Section 182 of the Indian Penal Code. Commission has also sought action taken report on September 7, 2020 in this regard.
