Cricket betting-Police arrests gang involved in betting on cricket matches

As per the guidelines issued by Satinder Singh, SSP, District SAS Nagar under the campaign against bad elements in the society and drugs and the guidance of Harmandeep Singh Hans, SP Investigation, Pawan Kumar, SI and ASI Deepak Singh including police party CIA staff, Mohali received an information during patrol that (1) Rajesh Kumar s/o Darshan Singh Resident House No. 830 Sector-56 Chandigarh (2) Johnny Bagla s/o Prem Chand Resident of Anupgarh District Ganganagar current residing at Flat No. 1303 Jal yau Vihar Mohali (3) Vijay Rana s/o RashpalRana Resident of House No. 784 Sector-41A Chandigarh (4) Ashwani Chohan s/o Ammi Chand Resident of House No. 1024 Sector-19 Panchkula run large scale betting/ match fixing business of cricket matches through their mobiles and laptops placed in the i20 car. They have a big betting gang as well as smuggle drug / supply narcotics to their regular customers. FIR No. 276 dated 20-12-2020 U/s 420 IPC, 13A-3-67 Gambling Act and 22-61-85. NDPS Act was registered at City Police Station, Kharar.
According to the information, the CIA Police party rounded them up in their car CH 01 CA 8055 near Christian School, Kharar. On suspicion of possessing drugs Rupinderdeep Kaur Sohi, PPS, DSP Sub Division Kharar-1 was called . During the search of the said persons, 300 gms of narcotics were found in the possession of the accused Rajesh Kumar . Search of his vehicle and 4 mobile phones, betting money to the tune of Rs. 2,02,000, two laptops, 10 syringes and 4 registers were recovered from his co-accomplices sitting in the car.
During interrogation they confessed that they had been in this business since a long time. They along with other accomplices engaged on a large scale in betting over matches. On the aforesaid persons cases are already registered under Gambling Act, Arms Act, intent to murder at Chandigarh and Mohali.. Recently, an FIR No. 315 dated 13-10-2020 U/S 384, IPC 38, 25-54-59 Arms Act and 22,29 NDPS Act has been registered at Sector 39 Chandigarh. The accused were produced before a court of law and remanded in police custody for two days. The investigation is on.
