National Gatka Association set up six directorates for worldwide expansion of Gatka

Aiming to make its administration, Gatka training and research activities more energetic, effective and progressive the India’s oldest registered Gatka sports organisation, National Gatka Association of India (NGAI), in collaboration with World Gatka Federation (WGF), has set up six different directorates with 36 directors who would work independently in their respective jurisdictions. These directorates would submit their written recommendations-cum-reports every quarter to the Administrative Directorate of NGAI and the later national sports federation (NSF) would prepare its annual progress report and sports calendar based on these reports for the WGF.
Giving this information here on Thursday, President of NGAI, Harjeet Singh Grewal, State Awardee, said the six Gatka technical officers (TO) appointed for the Sports Directorate would coordinate with the administrative directorate to plan competitions of different levels, make all arrangements, organize competitions and conduct the tournaments. Apart from this, the TOs would implement a specialised digital ‘Gatka Management TSR System’ during the competitions and control/regulate standardization of Gatka sports equipment (weapons). In order to manage this directorate Talwinder Singh Ferozepur, Ramanjit Singh Shanti Jalandhar, Gurpreet Singh Bathinda, Sarabjit Singh Ludhiana, Manjit Singh Balian Sangrur and Ravinder Singh Ravi Hoshiarpur have been appointed as directors.
On the same lines, the Directorate of Training and Coaching would design, develop, validate and impart best training and coaching services for further expertise and development of the best players and TOs (Coaches, referees and judges) while analyzing and evaluating the current and future needs of Gatka training. Apart from this, the directorate would plan, organise and conduct various types and levels of training camps/workshops, seminars, refresher courses/clinics for players besides conducting annual examinations for the new TOs. In this directorate 13 officials namely Inderjodh Singh Sunny Zirakpur, Harkiranjeet Singh Fazilka, Yograj Singh Khamano, Simranjit Singh Chandigarh, Harjinder Singh Tarntaran, Zorawar Singh Delhi, Lakhwinder Singh Ferozepur, Sukhdeep Singh Ludhiana, Baldev Singh Moga, Talwinder Singh Ferozepur, Ramanjit Kaur Delhi, Charanjit Kaur Mohali and Simrandeep Kaur Jammu have been appointed as directors.
He further informed that the Delegates and Volunteers Directorate would keep in touch with the delegates, office bearers, patrons and new members through email correspondence and keep a record of all the volunteers joining the NSF. To streamline this directorate, Dr. Pankaj Dhamija Fazilka, Harpreet Singh Sarao Mohali, Baljit Singh Saini, Bhupinder Singh Kharar, Ravinder Singh Pinku Mohali, Amarjit Singh Jammu and Joginder Singh Budh Vihar Delhi have been nominated as directors.
Gatka promoter Grewal said the Publication and Research Directorate would work under the leadership of Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon and Simranjit Singh Chandigarh, Harvinder Singh Gurdaspur, Virpal Kaur Sri Muktsar Sahib and Tejinder Singh Gill Patiala have been appointed as directors. This directorate would monitor, regulate and promote research activities on Gatka sport, publication of online media and journals, generation of authentic data and promotional material for martial art.
National Gatka Association set up six directorates for worldwide expansion of Gatka. Likewise,the Directorate of Foreign Affairs would set up new Gatka Associations/Federations in different countries in consultation with WGF, coordinate with existing affiliated foreign units, plan and organize Gatka competitions abroad and arrange exchange of TOs to promote Gatka sport globally.
The responsibility of this directorate has been assigned to Dr. Deep Singh as Chief Director and Dr. Shubhkaran Singh Khamano, Inderjodh Singh Sunny, Baldev Singh Moga and Ravinder Singh Bittu Jammu have been appointed as directors.
He further added that more committees and zonal councils of NGAI would be formed soon to ensure efficient administration, better management, timely redressal of grievances/complaints etc besides providing more facilities to the TOs and Gatka players.
