Mohamed Zay Niaz a 67 year old from Mazeri Sharif in Afganistan came to India to undergo high quality Spinal surgery. His last three discs were collapsed leading to severe leg pain and weakness in lower limbs due to nerve compression. After consulting various doctors in Delhi and Chandigarh, he decided to get operated by Dr Gaurav Sharma, a Chandigarh based Spine surgeon with fellowship training at Singapore General Hospital. He was operated at Amcare hospital in zirakpur where Minimal access disc height restoration was done using spacers (cages) to relieve pressure from the pinched nerves. The state of the spinal surgery which lasted 5 hours  was done under Neuromonitoring control for increased safety.

The patient was mobilized next day after surgery and discharged on the fifth day. His leg pain has dissapeared and weakness has started to improve.

Dr Gaurav Sharma has performed more than 60 such disc height restoration procedures referred to as MIS TLIF (Minimally Invasive Transforaminal Interbody Fusion) as well as OLIF ( Oblique Lateral Interbody Fusion) which he is the only surgeon to perform in Punjab and Haryana.
