Elon Musk appoints Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s new CEO, after six months of his leadership.
Linda Yaccarino, currently serving as the head of NBCUniversal’s advertising sales, is set to begin her role at Twitter in approximately six weeks, as previously stated by Musk. As CEO, she will primarily focus on the business operations of the social media platform, while Musk will shift his attention towards product design and new technology.
Elon Musk had posted a day earlier that he had found a new boss for Twitter but did not reveal their identity.”Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”
But, today he tweeted “I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”
Elon Musk – who bought the social media platform last year for $44bn – had been under pressure to find someone else to lead the company and refocus his attention on his other businesses, which include electric carmaker Tesla and rocket firm SpaceX.
Musk said he would remain involved at Twitter as executive chairman and chief technology officer.
Musk immediately fired thousands of staff, including people who had been tasked with dealing with abusive posts.
