DC bans entertainment stalls, loud speakers during Shaheedi Jor Mel

“Fatehgarh sahib annual Shaheedi Jor Mel to commemorate the martyrdom of younger sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh and Mata Gujar of tenth sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, would be totally religious in nature and spirit, this year” said DC Fatehgarh Sahib. The three-day annual Shaheedi Jor Mel, will begin from December 26,2018.
Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon and SSP Alka Meena said after presiding over a meeting of district officials that all wine shops, gambling stalls, circuses, swings and other sources of entertainment would be banned during the Jor Mel celebration. They said it’s totally a religious affair and such activity is allowed.
Dhillon said all the basic and necessary facilities like medical, clean drinking water, 24 hour power supply , mobile toilets facilities would be available round-the-clock for the pilgrims. He further elaborated that suitable number of ambulances would be kept on emergency duty, temporary and mobile toilet facilities would also be set up for the convince of the devotees . A light-and-sound programme on the martyrdom of Shabizadas would be shown at Aam Khas Bagh and an exhibition; an annual feature would also be organized to show case the products to the visitors.
The DC said the government had released a special grant for the repair of all roads leading to Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib for the convenience of devotees. He directed the officials concerned to complete the construction and repair work before the onset of Shaheedi Jor Mel.
On the security front, Fatehgarh sahib SSP Alka Meena said that CCTV cameras and drone cameras would be installed to keep a close watch on anti social elements. To control the traffic coming to Fatehgarh sahib from all directions like Patiala, Sirhind, Mohali, Rajpura, Khanna etc. would be controlled and free parking sites would be setup for the convenience of the devotees. She further informed that special nakas, observatory post and help centres would also be set upped to help the devotees.
